Reducing costs in die casting is a balancing act between initial tooling investments and long-term production efficiency. Since die casting is a high-volume process, even small tweaks in design or cycle time can lead to massive savings.
The most effective way to cut costs is at the drawing board. Design for Manufacturing (DFM) ensures the part is as easy to cast as possible.
Aim for thin, uniform walls. Thick sections slow down cooling times and increase material usage.
Ensure generous draft angles to allow the part to eject easily. This reduces wear on the mold and prevents costly "sticking" issues.
Avoid features that require side-actions or slides. These make the tool more complex and significantly more expensive to maintain
